ebay generated from my website....yes/no?

Postby thelazydragonfly on Sun Aug 08, 2004 2:01 pm

hi....
the host/web builder i use has a new feature to generate ebay listings from inside the site....you put up a catalog page and add your items...then generate an ebay auction from that...it puts up an ebay auction logo with the item and supposedly gets traffic to your site form ebay....
has anybody tried anything like this?....
the items i'm auctioning aren't all my eyeglass chains/i d badgeholders...should i put up a page called "ebay auctions"...and list them all from there?....
i'm unsure of how to list it on my site since it's not just what i'm promoting on the site?....
thanks for all your help!

Julia,
Sorry...I'm not quite following you. You can build Ebay listings from your website? I'm not sure why you would want to include or add pages to your site with Ebay listings on them. And actually I dont know it that is something Ebay allows. Maybe you can clearify a bit more.

I have the same webhost evidently...internet based families.
It's certainly legit, although I don't exactly understand how it works yet.
I really doubt that (isn't it Alice Seba who owns internet based families?) the webhost would do something not copasetic.

hi.......
yep........ebay allows it.......and i've seen sites on ruby lane (i think) and even homestead now has a facilty for taking items in your catalog (storefront) and posting them on ebay.....the goal is to drive buyers to your website....it's one step beyond just putting a link to your ebay items on your website...
and it helps you generate sales by being able to have the item visible on your site but also searched on ebay....a 2 for 1 i guess you'd call it.....
i just don't know for sure how to handle it on the site......
whether to put a page up that is just ebay auctions....or just list other pages...say...jewelry...art...etc and just auction items on each page periodically.......i'm a little confused too!...
thanks for the reply....

hi......
yes...internetbasedfamilies....citymaker...citymax...shoppingcartsplus...are all the same web site generator....with mostly the same templates.....just different owners/servers.....
i didn't find internetbasedfamilies until after i found citymaker....i liked the support staff at citymaker....they actually called me to make sure i was happy with the service and doing okay..."gordy" gets a gold star for great service....
it's not a big deal to make the catalog item into and auction....it just takes your basic info and puts it in the auction then you add the shipping, gallery, auction category and it makes the auction...it's actually pretty cool......
my sites so new i just don't want people to think it's just a glorified "here's my ebay auctions" site....and the items i have for auction aren't my eyeglass chains...
so...i'm not sure whether to auciton them from the site or not...
i have some lampwork bracelets and beaded victorian type chokers....
just need the collective brain on this one.......
thanks

What a nifty feature for that site builder :) Is it going well? I would like to hear some testimonials about it :)
